The funding for the school comes from two main areas; the first area is sponsors, both individuals and businesses, who all support this worthy cause by either sponsoring a child at the cost of approximately £60 per year or by making a generous annual donation. The second area is fundraising; throughout each year we, as a foundation, organise a range of fundraising events to raise awareness of our cause.
 Sponsors can pay by cheque, cash or by standing order. Our preferred method is by standing order and many sponsors pay £5 per month by this method. We are a registered UK charity so we also benefit from the Inland Revenue’s Gift Aid scheme. Since our inception all monies raised through donations and fund raising events have been used towards the building of the school, which has involved three new classroom blocks over the last five years. The trustees receive no remuneration or expenses and we are pleased to say that 97% of all monies raised in the UK go to The Gambia; the only deductible expenses are for stamps, stationery and fundraising costs. |
